How is it WEEK 5 ALREADY?!

Monday was such a busy day at work, and I got to see my gyno! She is suggesting the Mirena and I’m thinking it’s a yes from me!!! At the end of the day I had to race home for all hands on deck. Unfortunately I didn’t make the support call because poor little Arlo has a bad cold, and 6pm is prime time for kids’ routine. So I gave Jason a hand and we worked together to get everyone fed, bathed and into bed.

I felt like I came down with a cold late Monday evening and woke up Tuesday not feeling the best, so I stayed home with Arlo and we rested. I was able to meal prep though, and I even had a one and a half hour nap myself before I got the kids from school and took Nola to soccer training.

Arlo absolutely WRECKED THE HOUSE while we were home, so that was relaxing.

I only actually had to meal prep once this week because I’ve still got a heap of meals in the freezer from previous weeks, so I’ve been using those up. Honestly, this deserves a round of applause because freezer meals are saving me right now.

It was also a good reminder that meal prep doesn’t always have to mean cooking every single week. Sometimes it means using what you already prepped and making life easier for yourself.

Wednesday, I felt completely fine, talk about a strong immunity!? It was such a busy day with work. We had our regular team meeting, which was great. We talked through lots of different ideas to continue bringing new things to our coaching and how we can keep making the program better for everyone.

I did my gym session at lunchtime as well, which was actually really good because the sun was out and I did my steps up and down the driveway. I noticed an old planter box we tried to grow veggies in TWO years ago actually decided to bless us with tomatoes, how cool is that? I need to care for them now!

I bought a walking pad that I pick up on Friday and I’m so excited. With Canberra weather being so rude lately, I feel like the walking pad is going to be a game changer. No more using rain as my excuse every time Mount Taylor gets cancelled.

Jason came home with two chocolate blocks to torment me, because apparently, he has chosen violence. But you know what? I didn’t want any, thank you very much. ACTUALLY, I did fit 2 squares of the PB and Jelly in my calories to try it. Not bad…!

Thursday flew. It was another busy day, but I did my workout at lunch again and it felt good. I got my period this week too, so sleep was necessary. I always feel so lethargic when it comes, so I’m trying to be a bit more realistic with myself instead of acting like I should feel normal.

Parent teacher interviews were this week as well because it’s the end of term two. I was actually extremely surprised at Rocky’s. I was told he’s above expectations for maths, above expectations for spelling, and with writing he is competent. The teacher did say she thinks he could do better, but the whole interview was focused on that.

It was a bit disheartening because he is really good at all aspects of his work, but she focused solely on the gap between being competent and being above expectations. For an eight-year-old, I’m not sure that should be the primary focus.

I went full mum-mode after that and started looking for reading logs, maths resources and writing books to help him build longer sentences and add more detail. I’m not worried, but if I can help him feel more confident, I will. Ordered a bunch from Office Works!!

I thought I’d introduce a fish night once a week, so I made Matt’s salmon. Well, Jason is my fussy eater and he demolished it. The kids weren’t a fan, and I already had my prep. Salmon is a strong taste and smell though, so maybe I stick to the basics since we don’t eat fish often and not go straight to the extreme. Matt you have Jason’s tick of approval which is huge!!

Friday went quickly too, and Friday night I chilled with the older kids while Arlo went to bed. They started watching a show called Nowhere Boys on Netflix and I’m so invested. Jason watched his normal politics algorithm away from me because ill be honest, I’m not interested haha.

Saturday was soccer. Arlo was not having a bar of it, so he sat in the pram while I did steps backwards and forwards, then I got him some hot chips which kept him happy for the game. Jason was working otherwise we usually distract him together! If I let him out of the pram he either runs towards the road or onto the field!

I had so many plans to go to the mountain, but then it rained and we ended up having a couple of our close friends over with their kids for pretty much the whole afternoon and evening.

They all had such a great time together and ordered takeaway. To be honest, I’m now at the point where I wasn’t even jealous. It didn’t even smell good to me. I had one of my freezer meal preps and still enjoyed the evening chatting away.

That felt like a little win in itself. Not because takeaway is bad, but because I didn’t feel like I was missing out. I could still sit there, chat, laugh, be part of the night and not spiral over food.

Saturday night before bed Jason told me my face looks slimmer, so I got out some pics I took in Aug 2025 to compare!!! I see it! Such a nice little win, imagine in 10 more kilos?! Excuse the bed hair and pickle pjs!

Sunday was the day our family had been counting down to all week.

Rocky played his normal footy game, but his team also got invited to play in the pre-game for the Raiders, our NRL team for Canberra.

It was surreal. We got Arlo babysat so we could really live in the moment. It was amazing and Rocky played so well. We stayed for the Raiders game afterwards too. It was raining and cold, but it was such a great day.

One of those days where you’re cold, tired and slightly overstimulated, but also so glad you were there for it.

And to top off the weekend with another win for me, I pulled out a pair of jeans I had been using as ‘before’ pics!!!!!! Check this out:

Next weekend I’m going to Sydney with my friends to be their Hyrox support crew, and I cannot wait.

So basically this week was sick kids, a half-sick me, freezer meals carrying the team, chocolate trying to start drama, rainy weather ruining my mountain plans, parent teacher interviews, salmon night, soccer, footy, and me pretending I have my life together.

Not perfect, but I trained, I used my freezer meals and the jeans fit better.

CHECK INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN time:

Week: 5

Nutrition Adherence: 7/7!!!!!

Weekly Average Steps: 11,403

Training: 4/5 cycle week is always fucked.

Average Body Weight Change: - 900g

The things I’m most proud of this week are:

  • Using my freezer meals instead of feeling like I had to cook fresh every day

  • Training at lunch when mornings didn’t happen

  • Not feeling jealous or left out when everyone had takeaway

  • Seeing progress in my face and my jeans, even during a chaotic week

The areas I need to improve next week are:

  • Get back into a stronger gym routine and stop letting the week run me

  • Use the walking pad/ski erg for cardio when the weather ruins my plans
