Week 15 - KFC Smells, Prawn Prep & Girl Dinner

Monday was the last day of August.

I honestly cannot believe how quickly this year is going. I know we say that every year, but seriously. How are we basically in spring already?

Monday was my office day, and I started the morning with a walk because us coaches are doing the Super Fuck Party challenge, and apparently I am now a person who starts office days with movement.

Who is she?

I even took my runners to work and changed into them for a lunchtime walk, which was great because it was such a beautiful day.

In the afternoon, I really needed a sweet snack, so I wandered over to the communal kitchen and they had actually stocked it up with protein bars. I found a cookie dough one and thought, yes please.

Was it amazing? No.

Did it hit the little sweet spot I needed? Yes.

Sometimes that is enough.

After work, I had to go to Aldi, and they have just built a KFC next door.

Rude.

The smell was incredible, and it took every ounce of my soul not to drive through and get something to eat. I swear KFC smells better from the outside than it ever tastes when you actually eat it, but in that moment I was fighting for my life.

After dinner, the kids and I played Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza.

I think that’s what it’s called?

It’s the game where you say the words in order as you put the cards down, and if the card matches what you say, everyone slaps the pile.

Anyway, I think that’s how you play.

I do have a feeling we were getting it a bit wrong, but honestly, that’s part of the fun. Family game night with questionable rules still counts.

Tuesday morning started strong with thick brown sugar syrup spilled in the drawer.

And I’m not going to lie.

It is still sitting there.

I need to get boiling water or something and scrape it out, but future Casey can deal with that situation because current Casey simply closed the drawer and moved on.

After a busy day of work, I got to the gym and got my session done, which always feels good once it’s done.

One of my friends had a medical procedure on Tuesday, so I took her a little gift bag of goodies and some McDonald’s, which she was very grateful for.

There really is something elite about post-procedure McDonald’s and a bag of comfort snacks.

Tuesday night, I meal prepped garlic prawns, rice and veggies, and oh my god, it was so good.

I actually made Nola some for dinner as well, and then made myself one to try before committing to the rest of the containers. I had four containers ready to go, but I needed to make sure I liked it first because no one wants to be stuck with four sad meal preps.

Thankfully, delicious.

Wednesday was our usual busy day.

I trained again, which meant two gym sessions already for the week, and then we had our support call.

We didn’t have a team meeting this week, but we did have Wesley’s new moustache, which honestly deserved its own agenda item.

Very distracting.

Very funny.

Wednesday night, I cooked dinner on the barbecue and made enough for meal prep too, but not the sausages.

No one liked the sausages, which surprised me. I wonder if it’s because I froze them and then thawed them before cooking? I’m not sure, but Rocky was absolutely not a fan.

He said they were terrible.

No sugar-coating from that child.

Wednesday evening, I also took a little flexed photo in one of my favourite tops that I’m working on fitting into better.

I cannot wait to have more muscle definition.

I’m very much in that stage where I can see things starting to change, but my brain is also like, hurry up please. I want the muscles now.

Thursday was Father’s Day celebrations at daycare.

Since I do drop-off, and Rocky was with me because Nola was home with a cold, Rocky got the morning donuts.

He was extremely happy with this turn of events.

Thursday was also really busy with work. I felt like I barely left my desk, but I still managed to get my gym session in, so I’ll take that.

I also got a Gym Attire delivery, which was very exciting.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know I’m currently flooding it with all my new outfits. It is basically random mum life, weight loss, training videos and me trying on activewear at this point.

Very professional content strategy.

But honestly, I love it.

Thursday I also popped into school as Rocky had a dance spectacular! Jason and I loved it, no photos allowed though!

Thursday afternoon, I got the cutest photo of the boys at the Father’s Day arvo tea, and Thursday night I had my prawns, beans and rice again.

It is so easy to repeat meals when you actually enjoy them.

Right now my fridge is stacked with meals ready to go, and that makes life so much easier. There is something so satisfying about opening the fridge and seeing future-you already handled it.

Friday was my other office day, and it was such a beautiful day out.

I went for a big walk near one of the universities in the city, and there was a community garden, so I strolled through that.

It was lovely.

It also reminded me that I really need to do something with our garden at home.

How many times can one woman say she is going to garden before she actually gardens?

We may never know.

Friday afternoon was the Father’s Day celebration at the kids’ school.

Rocky had his face painted, and I think he’s going to be on the pamphlet for their fête, which is very cute.

The older kids went off for a weekend sleepover, and Jason left on Friday to go to Queensland for a birthday golf trip for one of his friends.

So it has just been me and the baby all weekend.

Wild scenes.

Friday night, Arlo did not want to sit in the highchair.

And honestly, I wasn’t in the mood to argue with him, so he had dinner on the bench.

Sometimes parenting is about boundaries.

Sometimes parenting is about survival and letting the toddler eat his dinner somewhere weird because you simply do not have the emotional capacity to negotiate with a tiny dictator.

Parenting excellence.

Saturday morning, Arlo slept in until 7am.

I could not believe it.

So did I, to be fair, because I had doom scrolled until about 10pm the night before looking at my Instagram and trying to plan my next content.

I have so many ideas I want to put into action. I’m also such an impatient person. I just want to film it all and post it all immediately, but apparently you’re meant to spread this stuff out.

Annoying.

Saturday morning, I made French toast for breakfast.

Well, I had French toast.

Arlo did not eat it.

Naturally.

Then I made blueberry mini muffins to put in the freezer for him. He was so excited when he saw them and kept saying, “cupcake, cupcake.”

Very cute.

It was raining for most of Saturday, so Arlo and I didn’t really do much.

When he napped I made a lower cable YouTube: https://youtu.be/UwLpQC72hOI?si=DBKpdibg4pAjnipa

We chilled at home and eventually went for a drive to the shops, mostly just to get out of the house for a bit.

Honestly, sometimes that is the outing.

I also kept trying on some of my new clothes.

Here is another photo of me for no real reason, but whatever, the outfit was cute.

At some point I also got the cutest photo of Arlo using Nola’s eye drops as nose spray.

He must be so sick of me shoving nose spray up his nose all the time that he’s decided to start medicating himself.

Then there was another cute photo of him looking out the window for Dada, because last weekend he watched Jason mow the lawn through the window, and now apparently that window is where Dada lives.

For dinner, Arlo had pasta and peas.

I had a protein shake.

Girl dinner.

Except I’m not sure a protein shake technically counts as dinner, but on a solo baby weekend, we’re doing our best.

Sunday morning, I got my workout done and filmed a full cable upper workout for YouTube and Instagram while I was at it. Coming this week!

I’ll throw the link into Skool when it’s ready.

I also wore one of my new cute outfits, because if I’m going to awkwardly film myself training, I may as well enjoy the fit.

Later, while Arlo napped, I read my book, and when he woke up, I drove out to Ethan’s to drop off some gifts.

One for him and his new fiancée, and one for Wesley and AJ for their baby, because Ethan leaves tomorrow to move to Bali.

I also got to see Mama Jan, which was lovely.

After that, the timing worked out perfectly because the kids and I got home right as Jason arrived home from Queensland, so we gave him his Father’s Day presents.

Then I went for a walk around the block to get my steps up.

Jason wanted KFC for dinner for Father’s Day, so I sat on the couch and watched them eat it because I was hungry and it smelled really good.

I figured if I kept my distance, I wouldn’t eat it.

Strategic couch placement.

Elite self-control.

After that, it was a quiet evening and an early bed for everyone because tomorrow was the start of a new week.

Now for check-in.

Week: 15

Phase: STRIP

Nutrition adherence: 7/7

Weekly average steps: 12378

Training: 4/4

Average body weight change: +400g

The things I’m most proud of this week are:

  • Hitting 7/7 nutrition adherence

  • Getting all 4 training sessions done

  • Getting walks in around work and mum life

  • Meal prepping food I actually enjoyed and wanted to repeat

  • Filming more training content even though I’m still learning

  • Not letting KFC smells, office snacks or random cravings throw me off

  • Staying consistent even with Jason away and a solo baby weekend

The areas I need to improve next week are:

  • Stop doom scrolling at night and actually go to sleep

  • Keep turning content ideas into action without trying to do everything at once

  • Keep meal prep simple and repeat the meals that are working

  • Keep pushing steps up where I can, especially on office days

So that was Week 15.

A week of office walks, protein bars, KFC smells, sticky brown sugar drawer crimes, gym sessions, garlic prawn meal prep, Wesley’s moustache, barbecue dinners, Father’s Day celebrations, new gym outfits, community gardens, solo baby weekend, highchair refusal, girl dinner, French toast rejection, blueberry muffins, filming workouts, gift drop-offs, Father’s Day presents and somehow a 400g gain despite 7/7 adherence.

Rude, but okay.

That’s just the scale being the scale.

I know I did the work this week. I trained, I tracked, I walked, I prepped, I stayed consistent, and I didn’t let busy life, KFC fumes or a toddler eating on a bench become an excuse.

So we keep going.

Preferably after I finally clean the brown sugar syrup out of the drawer.
