Week 14 - Needles, Naps & Sports Mode Crocs
Monday was my day off with Arlo.
After we dropped the kids to school and he had his morning nap, it was time for his 18-month needles.
Now little Arlo is pretty clever. As soon as we walked into the community centre where we get his needles done, he knew.
He latched onto me like a koala.
We had to wait a little bit to be seen, so he calmed down and was happy enough, but as soon as we went into the room, he knew exactly what was happening. Unfortunately, I had to hold him down while he got four needles. Two in each arm.
Poor little guy.
He screamed, but as soon as I pulled his shirt back on, he was fine.
Then we went into the waiting room for a snack and the 15-minute wait period.

Honestly, toddlers are wild. Screaming like the world is ending one minute, eating snacks like nothing happened the next.
After that, we went home and played in the sun for a little while. He refused his second nap, but it was still a beautiful day together.

We also had another wonderful support call, and Keiran hit us with some great lessons and questions again.
Tuesday was a very rainy day, so it was a washing and work sort of day.
The washing never ends.
That photo I sent you in Week 0 of all the clothes ready to be folded? I could honestly just add that to every single blog and it would still be accurate.

Same pile, different week.
Then I trained legs and actually created a vlog, which you can watch here:
Soccer training was cancelled again, which means there is only one week left.
Will it go ahead?
Stay tuned for the most boring cliffhanger of all time.
Wednesday the children had Book Week!!! Rocky went as a Warriors NRL Player.

And Nola and her friends went as characters out of The Lorax! Nola was the Onceler!!

I had my Everlab follow-up about my bloods mid morning!

As I already knew, my cholesterol was a little bit out of range, so we talked through what I should and shouldn’t be eating. I’m now under instructions to track my saturated fats and limit them to around 10g per day.

I also need to incorporate psyllium husk, vitamin D and magnesium supplements.
Not too bad if you ask me. Could be worse. Could have told me to give up energy drinks (sugar free) and then we would have had a real problem.
Wednesday was also team meeting day and support call day, which was great.
There weren’t many live questions on the call this time, so I ended up talking about pregnancy hormones and placentas for a little while.
As you do.
One thing about me is if there’s something I’m going through, or someone close to me is going through, or even if something just catches my attention, I will research it extensively.
And I guess having three children myself means I’m quite in tune with what happens to a woman’s body, what happens to a baby, the hormones we release, nutrients, recovery and all those sorts of things.
So I do love talking about topics where I feel confident in my knowledge.
I did an upper workout on Wednesday as well, and I filmed another video for you.
I’m very new to it, so please be nice to me:
I forgot to mention Wednesday was also Jason’s birthday.
The big 37.
In the morning, we opened presents and then I made him a cake.
And by “made,” I mean I got two Woolworths mud cakes, stacked them together and covered them in lollies.

A chef.
An artist.
A woman with no time and a dream.
After school, the kids went outside and played. We live next to an open reserve, and the boys in the neighbourhood have been building jumps. They’re actually pretty cool.

That night, we had a family dinner out.

In my training video, you may hear me say I was going to eat before dinner, but I ran out of time. While we were at dinner, I looked up what I could fit into my nutrition adherence, and there was a chicken and avocado salad with mustard dressing.
I got the mustard dressing on the side, so I ended up having dinner out and still hit my calories perfectly. I probably even had less than logged because I didn’t eat more than a teaspoon of the dressing.
It was a beautiful dinner with family, and then it was home to bed because we were all pretty tired.

Thursday, I was so sore.
I moved my training to Saturday and focused on cleaning the house between working.
For some reason, I decided it was a great idea to go through all the cupboards.
I was also trying to find the walking pad remote with no luck.
Honestly, maybe the walking pad remote knew I hated it and went into witness protection.
Thursday night was the first week with no footy training, so it was really nice to have dinner together as a family. Jason made steak, rice and veggies.

Friday was a busy office day, but first, as we know, 5am support call.
It was wonderful.
My mother-in-law arrived to look after Arlo, and one of Rocky’s friend’s mums picks the children up every Friday to take them to school so I can leave early for work, because Jason leaves early too.
Off to the office I go!

I also bought a My Muscle Chef meal for breakfast at work, but I ate it closer to brunch time, so surely that still counts as breakfast.

Breakfast is a mindset, okay.
I’m not sure if I’ve said this before, but lean on your village.
Get help where you can.
It is not easy to juggle everything, and having people around you who you can rely on is so important. But also, give back when you can. I try to make sure I help others where possible too, especially with their kids, whether that’s taking them to sport, parties or whatever else.
We can’t always give everything, but when we can, I think we should.
Friday night was a beautiful quiet night at home with just Arlo and I.
Jason, as we know, is obsessed with golf, so he took the older kids to the driving range.
Arlo was in the best mood, which made it so much easier to put him down.

Saturday, the kids went off again to watch a football game, and I did my leg workout. Here is a 1min recap of it before I finish the YouTube edit: https://www.instagram.com/p/DcnlV65B9mC/
I’ve actually been filming more and more. I’m not very good at it yet, but I’m learning. I’ve never really done a vlog before. I used to do some Instagram workout reels when I was doing HIIT workouts and training for Hyrox, but this is a bit different.
Please enjoy my camera angles, bad transitions and me looking confused half the time.
Nola had a birthday party on Saturday afternoon, so I took my laptop, ordered tacos with no ranch, sat in a booth and worked away.

It was actually really nice there. I highly rate it as somewhere to go and work.
It was a putt putt golf place, so apparently I now work from party venues.
We got home around 6:30pm with ice cream because the boys sent us to the shops on the way home.
I did not eat any ice cream.
Character development.
Sunday was another beautiful day.
Spring is definitely on its way. The flowers are starting to bloom, the sun is out, and it is finally getting warm.
Sunday morning I made the kids pancakes, and then made myself steak and eggs.
Very different vibes, but honestly, steak and eggs felt elite.

The kids got fluffy pancakes and I got protein with a side of “I am a woman with goals.”
After that, I went to the gym. I actually had to stop halfway through my workout because it started aggravating my sore back.
I see the physio again on Tuesday, but it turns out upper workouts seem to be what sets it off. It was hurting every day before I saw the physio, and now it only seems to hurt on the days I do upper body.
So that’s good to know.
I stopped the workout because I didn’t want to make it worse, and thankfully that stopped the pain from getting worse.
Growth, really.
Old me probably would have kept going and then complained for three days.
Jason was off at a golf competition, and after Arlo’s nap, I took Rocky to the shops because he begged me to take him to buy squishies. Nola went shopping with her cousin!

Anyone else’s kids obsessed?
After that, it was Arlo’s nap time again. He still naps twice when he’s home, and honestly, it’s great. It puts him in a good mood and gives us time to do what we need to do.
I had grand plans to finally garden.
Guess what I did instead?
Read my book and fell asleep.
My naps are only about 20 minutes if I ever fall asleep, but still. Gardening lost. Book won.
Also, at one point on Sunday I was laying on the couch reading my book and caught sight of my quads.

And I’m sorry, but I had to admire them for a second.
They are coming in.
Slowly, but they are coming.
Nothing like trying to have a peaceful little read and then being pleasantly interrupted by your own leg progress.
Nola, Arlo and I went to the park next door for a play, I did steps around them playing and then we went to jump on the trampoline while the sun was still up and glorious.

Then I put my Crocs in sports mode and Rocky and I kicked the footy.
Sunday night I ended up eating my dinner quite early because I was hungry, and because I was a little bit unprepared. I ate the same thing I had for breaky to use up the steak Jason cooked end of the week!
I had chosen a nap over doing groceries or meal prepping for the family that afternoon, so dinner was very much an air fryer and frozen veggies situation.
And honestly, that’s fine.
Not every night has to look perfect. Sometimes dinner is fresh meal prep and beautifully organised, and sometimes it is whatever can be cooked from the freezer while everyone is tired and hungry.
Still counts.
The rest of Sunday was nice and chill.
Arlo spent most of it annoying Rocky, which is one of his favourite hobbies at the moment. Rocky loves him, but you can see him questioning his life choices every time Arlo follows him around and touches all his things.

And because there are no more Fundamentals calls for now, it meant we actually had a slower Sunday night and an early bed.
Honestly, elite.
Beautiful week.
Did you notice I didn’t meal prep?
Last week’s Casey and the week before’s Casey made enough food to carry me through this week.
Thankfully, we have a big freezer.
Past Casey really has been showing up lately. Someone check on her.
I’ve also been trying to grow my Instagram a little bit, which is funny because I mostly just post whatever is happening in my brain that day.
Weight loss, training, mum life, random food, Arlo doing something cute, me being dramatic about snacks.
Someone unfollowed me the other day and I laughed.

Like honestly, fair enough.
It probably is random shit and weight loss, but I thoroughly enjoy posting it, and I think that matters. I spent way too long overthinking what to post, and now I’m just trying to have fun with it.
If it helps someone, makes someone laugh, or makes one mum feel a bit less alone in the chaos, I’ll take it.
Now for check-in.
Week: 14
Phase: STRIP, week 14 of 33
Nutrition adherence: 6/7
Weekly average steps: 12,588
Training: 3.5/4 + 3 bonus sessions for losing a step bet
Average body weight change: -900g
The things I’m most proud of this week are:
Dropping 900g after a few slower weeks
Getting more training videos filmed even though I’m still learning
Having dinner out for Jason’s birthday and making it fit my goals
Listening to my body and stopping my upper workout when my back started hurting
Leaning on my village and also giving back where I can
Keeping nutrition strong even with family dinners, birthday parties and tacos
Posting more on Instagram for fun and not overthinking it
Seeing my quads start to come in, even if I noticed them while doing absolutely nothing on the couch
The areas I need to improve next week are:
Keep working on my steps
Get my back checked properly and follow through with physio advice
Keep saturated fat around the target Everlab gave me
Actually find the walking pad remote, even if I still hate the walking pad
Keep filming and posting without being weird about it
Aim for 7/7 nutrition adherence if the week allows
